William Hoyes, founder and
CEO of MedErr DataApplication Ltd., announced
today that Kristy Parker, an
experienced medical software
expert, has been appointed
to serve as Senior Vice
President of the company.
As the Senior Vice
President, Parker will
oversee the Marketing and
Operations Department of the
company. The department’s
mission is to undertake the
first standardized global
assault on the pandemic of
medical errors within the
healthcare industry in the U.S. and worldwide.
Parker has an extensive
background in the
application of various types
of software for the hospital
industry. A native of Muncie, IN,
Parker lived in the
Chicago,
IL area for several years before
moving to
Charleston,
SC this summer. She graduated from
Indiana
University in 2000, with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in
computer science. Parker has
been associated with the
company since its inception.
“I am thrilled to be
associated with this company
and its product,” said
Parker. “The humanitarian
goals for its success are
unprecedented, and I believe
that the software,
eAppliedData, offers a
time-proven manner of
correcting the pandemic of
medical adverse events.”
Currently, MedErr DataApplication Ltd. is working
in cooperation with the SC
Hospital Association toward
finalizing a software beta
test program within regional
member hospitals. This
software, called
eAppliedData, is estimated
to be released and used by
hospitals in the fall of
2007. MedErr DataApplication Ltd. has gained
input from Health Sciences
of South Carolina on
software revisions
concerning interfacing and
user friendliness.
MedErr DataApplication Ltd. staff is working with
the support of SC Launch!, a
program that facilitates
product development for
South Carolina
companies.
“We are ready for marketing
as soon as final
capitalization is secured,”
said Hoyes. He compares
MedErr DataApplication Ltd.’s software potential
for the healthcare industry
with the application of the
Aviation Safety Model -- a
technique with a proven
track record in other
high-risk industries such as
petroleum, chemical,
aviation and nuclear energy.
“Preventable medical adverse
events kill up to 200,000
patients, injuring many
more, each year at an annual
cost to the healthcare
industry of $50 billion,”
said Hoyes. “Patients and
insurance carriers bear most
of this expense, resulting
in higher expenses for all.”
Although each of the
nation’s 6,000 hospitals has
an individualized program
that promotes patient
safety, the incidence of
errors in U.S. hospitals continues to climb
each year. “The
individualized attempt to
curb this pandemic simply
has not worked in the past
and will not work any time
in the future,” said Hoyes.
As MedErr DataApplication Ltd. moves forward with
software revisions and
hospital industry support,
Hoyes has high hopes for
Parker as well the other
board members who support
the company’s goals.
“All you have to do is look
at the names, affiliations
and relevant experience of
our board members to know
that the medical industry
has a dire need for a
single, cooperative approach
to reducing medical errors,”
Hoyes said. “These proactive
board members offer a wide
range of talents,
experiences and reputations,
assets that will ensure the
company’s managed growth and
success in reducing the
global pandemic of
preventable medical errors.”
